Eklingji is a town located in Udaipur district of Rajasthan, India. Other name of this town is Kailashpuri. This town is famous for Eklingji Temple. It is located 22kms away from Udaipur. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Temple was built by Bappa Rawal in 734 AD. After that, this temple repaired by several kings.

 

What to see in Eklingji:

Eklingji Temple:  This is the major attractions of this town. It is a temple complex consists of 108 temples. Main idol of the complex is Lord Shiva. Granite and Marble are used in the construction of the wall complex.

 

Temple has elaborated pillared hall under a vast Pyramidal roof with a four faced image of Lord Shiva. This image is made up of black marble. East facing part of this image is Surya (Sun), North facing Part is Vishnu (Protector), West facing part is Brahma (Creator) and south facing Part is Lord Shiva (Destroyer). On the top of this idol one can find Yantra. This stands for the reality.

 

On every Monday evening, Maharana of Udaipur pays a private visit to this temple. Another major attraction of this place is Silver image of Nandi. This welcomes at the entrance of the main temple. Plenty of black stone Nandi’s can be seen in the temple complex. Height of Main idol is 50feet.

 

At the entrance of the temple, visitors find heavy door. This was made up of silver and heavy carvings. Carvings of Lord Kartikeya and Lord Ganesha seem like they were protecting Lord Shiva. Other shrines of the temple are Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Yamuna. Shivratri Festival celebrates so grandly at this place.

Lakulish Temple:  This is one of the major temples in the temple complex of Eklingji Temple. In the entire India this is the only temple of Lakulish which was built in 971.

 

What to see around Eklingji:

Sas- Bahu: It is located just one kilometre away from the town in Nagda town. This temple is famous for stone carvings. Incidents of Ramayana can be seen in the form of carvings. Marble was used to construct this temple which was dates back to 11th century.

Adbudji Temple: This temple belongs to Jains. It was made up of black marble. This temple was built in 15th century. It is located in Nagda town which is just 1km away from the town.

Udaipur: It is located 22kms away from the town. This place is also known as city of Lakes. Udaipur is the best place to see Hindu and Tibetan style of architecture. Udaipur Attractions are Lake Palace, City Palace, Lake Pichola, Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon Ki Bari, Gulab Bagh and Zoo.

 

Getting to Eklingji: Only way to reach this place is by road. This place is well connected with Udaipur. Buses are available from Udaipur frequently. Udaipur is well connected with all the cities. Nearest railway station is located at Udaipur. From Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur etc trains come to Udaipur. Dabok Airport is the nearest airport to the town. This airport is 22kms away from Udaipur. From Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Mumbai etc flights come to this place.

 

Getting around Eklingji: Temple complex can be seen on foot. Buses are available to visit the surrounding place of Eklingji.

 

Best time to visit Eklingji: Best time to visit this place is between October to March.

 

Where to stay in Eklingji: Limited hotels are available in Eklingji. Best hotels are Q Hotel, Amantra Comfort Hotel, Mamta Resorts, Hotel fountain, Sahei Palace Hotel.

 

Where to eat in Eklingji: Very limited and small restaurants are available to eat In Eklingji. Traditional Rajasthani Cuisines are available.
